About

My name is Paris, and I am a writer, a minimalist, and a Stoic practitioner. I also happen to be trans-non-binary.

I started The Fluid Stoic because I found myself at the intersection of an ancient philosophy rooted in objective reality and a modern identity rooted in personal evolution. On the surface, “Fluidity” and “Stoicism” seem like opposites—one represents change and the spectrum, while contemporary culture tells us the other suggests the unmovable and the firm.

In reality, they are the perfect companions; they are one in the same.

Why Stoicism and Queerness?

The heart of Stoic practice is the Dichotomy of Control: understanding the difference between what is up to us and what is not. For the queer and gender-non-conforming community, this is a survival tool. We cannot control the perceptions, prejudices, or labels others place upon us. We can control our character, our response to adversity, and the integrity with which we live our lives. Often, we can't control who we are, but we can always control how we are.

The Fluid Stoic is an exercise in how being queer and pursuing Stoicism is not only possible, but I would argue is often necessary. Among many other things, this blog is an exploration of a plethora of concepts and insights:

What You’ll Find Here

This blog is a collection of my thoughts, personal insights, and practical recommendations. Whether you are looking for Stoic reflections to ground your transition, philosophical deep dives into gender or orientation, or simply a fresh perspective on how to live a more authentic, intentional, minimalist life. There is a place for you here.

I believe that this philosophy isn't just meant for cis-het white men in classrooms and business offices; it’s meant for the oppressed, the marginalized, the streets, everyday life, and the quiet moments of self-reflection. It’s meant to help us navigate the beautiful, fluid complexity of being human. And there is nowhere more necessary to discuss Stoicism as a practice than among the queer community.
